Material In Depth: Walnut & Tasmanian Oak Veneer

Our thin timber veneers are adhered to australian made medium density fibreboard (mdf), constructed from renewable australian pine plantations. The mdf is eo grade which indicates the lowest formaldehyde level available.

Structural integrity Rigid MDF with smooth veneer coating, strong enough to hold it's structure.
Flexibility Not flexible.
Cost $$$ - High
Engrave quality / legibility Engraves very well with a clear result. The tone of the engraving can vary from sheet to sheet.
Score quality / legibility Scores very well with a clear result.
Material burn Some burn is visible, transfer tape recommended.
Transfer tape recommended? We recommend using our low-tack transfer tape on one of both sides when cutting Walnut/Tasmanian Oak veneer to lessen burn. Although transfer tape does not completely prevent burn marks, it can decrease them by 90%.

Residue / handling (think black card) No issues.
Lifespan / longevity Yellows over time, not very hardy
Moisture Does not repel moisture, can warp and swell if in contact with water.
Post production options Can be finished with buffing oils, timber varnishes.
