Dancing and Glitter and Lasers, oh my! (NSFW)

It’s that time of year again: the fabulous are donning their lycra, feathers and dancing heels and hitting the streets hard for Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras 2015.  We’re certainly no strangers to the annual event, often finding ourselves on the fun side of the barriers as press photographers, but this year brought about an opportunity that made us really sweat.

Housewives on Fire approached The Laser Co to tackle the production of their extraordinary costume designs this year for the Red Heaven Events float. The task at hand: within 4 short weeks prepare and cut over 3000 individual pieces to create 100 unique outfits using over 70 square metres of acrylic and plywood – an amount that would even bring Kylie’s wardrobe designer to their knees.

The assembled costumes then formed a spectacular light show as they were showcased as one of the most spectacular floats in the final parade.
